CAIRO – 4 July 2025: Hamas movement issued a brief statement on Friday, highlighting its commitment to ending the Israeli aggression against Palestinians and ensuring the free entry of humanitarian aid.

The statement indicated that Hamas is currently in discussions with leaders of various Palestinian factions regarding a proposal received from the mediators.

Hamas confirmed that it will deliver its final decision to the mediators following the conclusion of these consultations, and it will announce the decision publicly.

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he expects Hamas to probably response to a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.

Trump earlier this week said he hopes Hamas accepts the proposal, asserting that Israel has agreed to the “necessary conditions” to reach the deal.

“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope... that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social.

During the period of the proposed ceasefire, Trump said the US will “work with all parties to end the War.”

The US president told the press on Tuesday that he is hopeful that a ceasefire and captive release agreement can be achieved next week.

Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar indicated on Wednesday that there is “a large majority in the government and among the people for the plan to release hostages. If there is an opportunity to do so - it must not be missed!”

Talks about a possible ceasefire comes while Israeli forces continue to kill dozens of Palestinian civilians every day across Gaza amid absence of accountability.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli forces have so far killed more than 57,000, most of whom are women and children.

The deaths include nearly 600 humanitarian aid seekers near the distribution centers of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an American newly-established organization backed by Israel and which Hamas has called “death traps.”

Israeli forces resumed bombardment on Gaza on March 18, shattering a two-month ceasefire that was brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the US and had resulted in the release of 38 captives from Gaza, 30 of whom were alive.
