Egypt’s president appoints new financial advisor, vice chairman of Suez Canal Authority

CAIRO – 3 July 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued a decree appointing Ahmed Saad Ali El-Shazly as his advisor for financial affairs.

The president also issued a decree appointing Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa Megahed as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Suez Canal Authority.

The new appointments come a few days after the president issued decrees appointing new heads for top judicial bodies, including the Egyptian State Council, Administrative Prosecution Authority, State Lawsuits Authority, and the Court of Cassation.

Vice Admiral Ashraf Megahed brings extensive experience in various military roles, the latest of which was serving as the commander of the Egyptian Navy since December 2021.
