CAIRO - 28 June 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the government to increase compensation allocated for each death case in Menoufia road accident by EGP 100,000, and an additional EGP 25,000 for each injury.

Earlier on Saturday, the head of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) Mohammed Farid has directed the Egyptian Compulsory Insurance Pool (ECIP) to pay EGP 100,000 as a compensation for each death case in Menoufia road accident.
With the added amounts ordered by President Sisi, the total compensation to be received by the families of each victim will rise to L.E. 200,000.

The President also directed the government to closely monitor road maintenance and repairs, particularly on the Regional Ring Road, and to complete them quickly.

He also directed the government to ensure that signs are posted in repair areas, clearly reroute the road, and immediately remove obstacles that cause accidents on these roads, in addition to monitoring speeds.

Menoufia, located in Egypt’s fertile Nile Delta, woke up to tragedy as 18 young women and one man were killed after a microbus collided with a truck on the Regional Ring Road on Friday.

Photos from the scene showed the microbus completely wrecked.

The deceased, along with two other injured laborers, were transported to nearby hospitals. Most, if not all, of the victims were aged between 14 and 23 years.

Investigating authorities have ordered the detention of the driver of the microbus that collided Friday with a truck.

The driver will undergo drug tests to determin whether he was driving under the influence of narcotics.
