CAIRO – 27 June 2025: US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have reportedly agreed on ending the war in Gaza as soon as within two weeks and the expansion of the so-called Abraham Accords between Israel and more Arab nations.
According to Israel Hayom, a deal to end the war in Gaza will also support a future two-state solution in exchange for reforms in the Palestinian Authority.
In a statement on Thursday, Netanyahu said his country’s so-called victory on Iran during the recent 12-day war “presents an opportunity for a dramatic widening of peace agreements.”
“Alongside the freeing of hostages and defeat of Hamas, there is a window of opportunity that must not be missed. We cannot waste even a single day.”
According to Israeli reports, Netanyahu hopes to receive pardon in his criminal corruption trial as part of the agreement.
Trump on Wednesday posted on Truth Social demanding the immediate cancellation of Netanyahu's trial or for him to be granted a pardon.
The Kan public broadcaster reported that Trump’s call for the cancellation of Netanyahu’s trial is linked to the effort to end the war, extending since October 7, 2023.
One source with direct knowledge of the matter was quoted by Axios as stating that Trump wants a ceasefire and a captive deal in Gaza “as soon as possible.”
Over the past 20 months, the Israeli forces have killed more than 56,200 Palestinians in Gaza, injured over 132,400 more, devastated vital infrastructure, flattened homes and left the enclave on brink of famine.
