CAIRO – 25 June 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued presidential decree No. 325 of 2025, increasing pensions by 15 percent as of July 1.

The decree was published in the official Gazette out Wednesday.

Earlier this year, Egypt announced increasing wages for state employees and raise the minimum wage to 7,000 LE per month starting in July.

The government said to implement a 10 per cent annual allowance hike for civil service employees and 15 per cent for those outside the civil service law, with a minimum increase of 150 pounds per month. The cost-of-living allowance will rise from 600 pounds to 1,000 pounds, while an additional 300 pound  incentive will be granted across all job grades from sixth to excellent.

The measures are part of Egypt’s 2025/2026 fiscal budget, which includes an 18.1 per cent rise in wage allocations to 679.1 billion pounds to cover the salary increases. The budget will also provide funding for the recruitment of 75,000 teachers, 30,000 doctors, and 10,000 government employees.

The Cabinet has approved the budget and referred it to the Parliament. The plan projects 3.1 trillion pounds in revenue a 19 per cent annual increase and 4.6 trillion pounds in spending, with a 4 per cent primary surplus target and a focus on reducing public debt.
