Egypt condemns Iranian attacks on Qatar

CAIRO – 23 June 2025: Egypt strongly condemned and denounced the Iranian attacks on the sisterly State of Qatar, viewing them as a grave violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, a threat to its territorial integrity, and a breach of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with Qatar and reiterated its unwavering support for the Gulf nation during this critical time.

Egypt expressed deep concern over the rapidly escalating and dangerous developments unfolding in the region. It reaffirmed its total rejection of all forms of military escalation and any infringement upon the sovereignty of states. Egypt underscored the urgent need for de-escalation and a ceasefire to safeguard regional peace and security.

Furthermore, Egypt stressed the importance of unified regional and international efforts to contain the growing tensions and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. It called for the prioritization of diplomacy and dialogue as the only viable path to preserving the security and stability of the region. Egypt reiterated its call for restraint and the pursuit of peaceful solutions through diplomatic channels.

 Iranian Armed Forces announced that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with a devastating and powerful missile attack as part of Operation “Basharat al-Fatah” [Herald of the Victory] on Monday evening, in retaliation to the US attacks on three Iranian uranium enrichment facilities on Sunday.

Also, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Abdeatty held a series of urgent diplomatic calls on Monday evening with several of his regional counterparts to discuss the rapidly unfolding developments in the Middle East following Iranian attacks on the State of Qatar.

According to an official statement, Dr. Abdelatty spoke with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia; Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain; Abdullah Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait; Dr. Fuad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq; and Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan.

The discussions centered on the implications of the recent Iranian attacks, which Egypt described as a "blatant violation" of Qatar’s sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security and stability.

During the calls, Dr. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s full solidarity with Qatar in light of the attacks. He emphasized Egypt’s strong condemnation of any infringement on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar, as well as its broader rejection of all forms of aggression targeting the stability of fellow Arab nations.

The ministers exchanged views on the potential consequences of the escalating situation, including its impact on regional peace. They also reviewed the growing threat of military escalation and emphasized the urgent need to prevent further deterioration.

In a show of diplomatic unity, the ministers agreed on the critical importance of de-escalation and restraint. They called for collective regional and international efforts to contain tensions, restore calm, and promote dialogue as a means of preserving regional security.
