RAMALLAH - 27 July 2017: The Palestinian Foreign Ministry congratulated on Thursday the Palestinians, especially Jerusalemites, for the big achievement they realized against Israeli occupation, calling for the full return of the historical and legal status of Al Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinians, thanks to their steadfastness and heroic actions against Israeli authorities, succeeded in foiling Israeli attempts to control and Judaize Al Aqsa Mosque, the ministry said in a statement.

Days after their installment of electronic gates on all entrances of Al Aqsa Mosque, Israeli authorities were forced to remove them and cave in to the demands of thousands of Palestinians who had been praying in the streets outside the shrine to protest the security measures since the crisis began.

The Palestinian ministry called on all Palestinians to build on this big achievement to realize more gains as regards the status in Al Aqsa and Al Quds.

Our previous experiments with Israeli occupation authorities make us aware that they will make more attempts to control Al Aqsa Mosque so the Palestinians should prepare themselves for the next stage in their battle to preserve their holy places, the statement said.

It expressed appreciation for all men, women and children who defended Al Aqsa mosque on behalf of the rest of the Palestinians and Arab and Islamic nations.

Israel installed the new security measures earlier this month after Palestinian gunmen shot and killed two police officers from within the site.
