CAIRO – 24 May 2025: A butane gas cylinder exploded in Upper Egypt’s Minya governorate on Saturday night, injuring two individuals, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior based on eyewitness accounts.
A security source stated that at around 9:27 PM, eyewitnesses reported that two people were walking along Nile Corniche street, one of whom was carrying a bag containing a small butane cylinder, moments before the cylinder exploded.
The explosion caused severe injuries to the carrier's hand and other parts of the body, while the accompanying individual suffered moderate injuries.
Both injured individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently pursuing legal action and conducting further investigations into the incident.
No other injuries or damages were reported.
