CAIRO – 16 May 2025: Israeli forces are carrying out a new round of airstrikes on Yemen’s Hudaydah governorate, according to Israeli reports, just a day after announcing the interception of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis.
The strikes follow evacuation warnings issued by the Israeli army for Houthi-controlled seaports in Yemen over the recent days, although no actual attacks occurred during this time.
The Israeli strikes involved 15 fighter jets dropping around 35 munitions on the Hodeidah and Salif ports, according to the reports.
The army claims that the extent of damage requires month-long rehabilitation at the targeted ports.

On Thursday, the Houthis announced the launch of a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.
They asserted that the operation “successfully achieved its objective, causing millions of occupying Zionists to flee to shelters and halting airport operations for nearly an hour.”
Earlier in May, Israeli forces struck Hudaydah and Sanaa airport, killing several people and injuring dozens more. These strikes came in retaliation for a successful Houthi ballistic missile attack on Ben Gurion Airport, which had also injured several people.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza war in 2023, the Houthis have launched hundreds of missiles at Israel in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree has urged airlines to avoid Ben Gurion Airport, declaring it "no longer safe."
The US, which has conducted intense strikes on the Houthis since mid-March to prevent them from targeting Red Sea shipping, announced a ceasefire agreement with the group last week.
However, the Houthis stated that the agreement does not extend to Israeli interests, vowing to continue attacks on Israeli shipping and territories as long as the war in Gaza persists.
