Situation in Gaza is ‘catastrophic’, UNRWA's Director of Communications

CAIRO – 14 May 2025: UNRWA's Director of Communications, Enas Hamdan confirmed that the situation in Gaza is catastrophic to the highest degree.

She added that there is a clear deterioration in food security, with more children suffering from malnutrition and worsening hunger.

Hamdan added that, to date, no humanitarian aid has been allowed into the Gaza Strip and every additional day of the blockade is a day of suffering and terror, which fundamentally deepens the humanitarian crisis.

UNRWA's Director of Communications pointed to the calls and reports issued by health centers affiliated with UNRWA and other organizations indicating an increase in the rates of diseases resulting from malnutrition, and that there are children in need of nutritional supplements.
