CAIRO – 9 May 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has attended Russia’s Victory Day parade held today on Red Square of Moscow, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.
Russia is marking the 80th anniversary of its World War II Victory Day, celebrating the Soviet Union’s defeat of Nazi Germany in the war, which lasted from 1939 to 1945.
Putin received Sisi upon his arrival on Red Square alongside foreign leaders.

The Egyptian Armed Forces proudly took part in the parade, joining forces from other participating countries.

At the parade, Putin was joined by leaders of many countries from across the world, including Chinese President Xi Jinping as well as leaders from former Soviet republics.
Putin previously announced a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine in commemoration of Victory Day, effective from May 8 until May 10.

The Russian president delivered a speech at the parade, calling for national unity amid the ongoing war.
“Victory Day unites all generations. We are moving forward based on our age-old traditions and are confident that together we will ensure a free and secure future for Russia, our united people,” Putin said.
