This came during a joint press conference in Egypt's New Administrative Capital between Abdelatty and Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović.
Abdelatty praised the visit of Montenegrin minister to Egypt saying it reflects mutual keenness on boosting cooperation between both sides.
The talks tackled means of promoting cooperation in the different domains particularly the economic and investment sectors, Abdelatty said.
Abdelatty lauded Montenegro's initiative to establish an embassy in Cairo.
He welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Egypt's Diplomatic Institute and Diplomatic Academy of Montenegro along with a memorandum of understanding to establish a political consultation mechanism between the two countries to push the bilateral ties forward.
Egypt's role in the region
For his part, Ibrahimović noted that his visit represents an opportunity to strengthen and deepen the historical ties between the two nations.
He added that the discussions covered many issues of mutual bilateral and global interest.Ibrahimović praised Egypt’s role in the Arab League and in the region, pointing out that Montenegro holds Egypt in high regard and expects strong opportunities for further investment, trade, tourism and cultural cooperation, in addition to enhancing parliamentary relations.
He also welcomed the memoranda of understanding signed today with Egypt, affirming that these agreements represent a step forward in strengthening bilateral ties and offer a great opportunity to boost cooperation, particularly in the field of tourism.
Regarding the distinguished relations between Egypt and Montenegro, Abdelatty affirmed that the two countries share a longstanding historical relationship.
He noted that establishing a shipping line would boost bilateral ties further and emphasized that many Egyptian goods are already entering the Montenegrin market.
In response to a question about Montenegro’s stance on Israeli actions in Gaza, Deputy PM Ibrahimović said that Montenegro opposes the escalation of the conflict pointing out to the breach of the ceasefire agreement.
He expressed hope for a future period marked by peace, stressing that innocent Palestinian women and children should not be victims of this conflict.
Ibrahimović lauded Egypt's efforts to promote peace in Gaza.
Egypt's exports to Montenegro
During the conference, Abdelatty said Egypt’s exports to Montenegro amounted to $4.6 million in 2024.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Abdelatty voiced keenness to boost bilateral ties with Montenegro, underlining the need to increase trade exchange and support mutual investments.
Abdelatty also underscored the need to cement bilateral cooperation on tourism.
The minister reviewed the government’s efforts on turning Egypt into a regional and international energy hub.
He also shed light on Egypt’s stances on developments in the Middle East region, particularly the Palestinian cause, praising Montenegro’s balanced stance on this issue.
Both ministers discussed their countries’ efforts to combat terrorism and fight illegal migration, among others.
