AL BAYDA - 27 July 2017: The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday announced it closed the Sudanese consulate in Kufra, the largest district in Libya, for security reasons.

Assistant Foreign Minister Soleiman Awad informed the Sudanese Consul General about the decision during a meeting which was attended by Head of the Arab Affairs Department at the ministry, a statement said.

The statement accused the Sudanese mission of practices that violate the international conventions regulating diplomacy. The ministry said these actions may undermine the Libyan national security.

The Kufra consulate is headed by the Consul General and comprises up to 11 employees.
