CAIRO – 17 April 2025: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty embarked on Thursday on a visit to Algeria that aims to enhance the bilateral relations and cooperation, said the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration in a statement.

The Egyptian minister will also tackle the current regional crises and international issues of mutual concerns for both sides, the statement added.

Abelatty’s visit comes ahead of the Arab League Summit due to convene in Baghdad on May 17. This is the second time for Iraq to host the Arab League meetings after the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, as the first time was in 2012.

On October 27, 2024, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received his Algerian counterpart President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Cairo. The two presidents stressed the crucial need for an urgent and immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and for ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief. They reiterated the international community's responsibility to protect civilians from the outrageous aggression they face.

They also emphasized the vital importance of establishing an independent Palestinian State, along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
