CAIRO - 14 April 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, during his visit to Qatar as part of his Gulf tour. A formal reception was held for President El-Sisi, including national anthems and a guard of honor ceremony.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that President El-Sisi and the Emir chaired an expanded meeting involving delegations from both countries, followed by bilateral talks between the two leaders. The Emir welcomed President El-Sisi's visit, emphasizing its significance in strengthening the growing bilateral relations.
President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation in various fields, particularly by increasing trade and Qatari investments in Egypt, to meet the aspirations of both nations.
The spokesperson noted that the leaders exchanged views on efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and address the deteriorating humanitarian situation by providing sufficient humanitarian aid to avert a humanitarian catastrophe. They also discussed the exchange of hostages and detainees.
Both leaders firmly rejected the displacement of Palestinians from their land and emphasized the need to support the Arab plan for Gaza's reconstruction without displacing Palestinians. They stressed the importance of a political horizon leading to an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The leaders also discussed regional issues, including the situations in Syria, Lebanon, and Sudan, emphasizing the importance of preserving their unity, territorial integrity, and protecting their people's resources and stability.
