US-Iran negotiators to meet again next week after ‘constructive’ nuclear talks

CAIRO – 13 April 2025: US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi agreed to meet again next week after they wrapped up “constructive” nuclear talks on Saturday.

The “direct communication” between President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was “very positive and constructive,” the White House said in a statement.

Witkoff “underscored to Dr Araghchi that he had instructions from President Trump to resolve our two nations’ differences through dialogue and diplomacy, if that is possible,” the statement says.

He described today's talks as a “step forward in achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.
