CAIRO – 11 April 2025: French President Emmanuel Macron said that a ceasefire must be reached in Gaza, and that humanitarian aid must resume immediately.

He affirmed on Friday that a political solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on a two-state solution is essential, according to Al Qahera news channel.

Macron added that Paris supports the legitimate right of the Palestinians to establish their own state.

Earlier this week, France President Emmanuel Macron visited Egypt, held meetings with President Abel Fattah al Sisi and visited Al Arish city. Sisi and Macron also witnessed the signing of several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

A tripartite summit was also held in Cairo between President Sisi, Macron and King Abdullah of Jordan to discuss conditions in the region including the developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

During the visit, French President condemned, the targeting of humanitarian and relief teams in the Gaza Strip, and considered the resumption of humanitarian aid to Gaza a ‘top priority.’

Macron stressed that a political solution is the only way to achieve a settlement in Gaza, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire in Gaza as a prelude to launching a political process.

on Wednesday, Macron said that France is planning to recognize a Palestinian state within months and could make the move at a UN conference in New York in June on settling the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.

“We must move toward recognition, and we will do so in the coming months,” Macron told France 5 television. “Our aim is to chair this conference with Saudi Arabia in June, where we could finalize this movement of mutual recognition (of a Palestinian state) by several parties,” he added.
