CAIRO – 10 April 2025: Summer time in Egypt will begin on Friday, April 25, 2025. Clocks will be set forward by 60 minutes, marking the end of winter time, in accordance with the law issued by the Cabinet currently in effect.
In a move aimed at cutting down power usage, Egypt reintroduced daylight-saving time in 2023 after a seven-year hiatus.
According to Cabinet statements, daylight saving time involves setting the clock forward 60 minutes, while winter time is set back 60 minutes.
Friday was chosen to adjust both daylight saving and winter time, as Friday is an official holiday in most government sectors. This was chosen to avoid any time-related problems or errors, and to give citizens an opportunity to understand and implement the change, avoiding any disruption to government and institutional operations if the change occurs on a normal workday.
