CAIRO – 27 March 2025: A phone call took place on Thursday between Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, and his Lebanese counterpart, Youssef Raja, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's eagerness to cooperate with Lebanon to strengthen bilateral ties across all sectors. He emphasized Egypt's readiness to contribute to Lebanon's reconstruction and infrastructure development. In this regard, he also discussed the potential to convene the joint higher committee between the two countries as soon as possible.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to providing ongoing support to Lebanon, its government, and national institutions, in line with the aspirations of the Lebanese people for a prosperous future.
The call also addressed the latest developments in Lebanon, with the Foreign Minister reaffirming Egypt's support for Lebanon in facing security challenges. He reiterated Egypt’s firm stance against any actions that threaten the security, safety, and stability of the Lebanese people.
Additionally, Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing the cessation of hostilities agreement in southern Lebanon, calling for the immediate and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the region. He emphasized the need for the Lebanese army to fully enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1701, underlining the importance of its complete and simultaneous implementation by all parties involved, without selectivity.
