CAIRO – 25 March 2025: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed with his Bulgarian counterpart, Georg Georgiev, on Tuesday, developing relations between the two countries in various fields, in light of the directives of the political leadership in both countries.
During a phone call, the two ministers exchanged views on ways to develop trade, economic, and investment relations between the two countries, especially as Bulgaria is one of the main suppliers of wheat and grains to Egypt.
The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the turmoil facing the region. Abdelatty and Georgiev discussed developments in the Gaza Strip in detail. In this context, Minister Abdelatty offered his sincere condolences to the Bulgarian side for the killing of Bulgarian officer Marin Marinov, a member of the United Nations Mission in Gaza, who was killed as a result of the Israeli shelling of the UN headquarters in central Gaza on March 19.
Minister Abdelatty strongly condemned Israel's targeting of the UN headquarters in Gaza.
The Egyptian minister reviewed the Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction and the efforts made to consolidate the ceasefire. He stressed the need to move forward with implementing the second phase of the agreement.
For his part, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister praised Egypt's sincere efforts in preparing the Arab plan for reconstruction and the current efforts to achieve calm and release the hostages.
