CAIRO – 21 March 2025: Israeli forces detonated the Turkish Friendship Hospital in central Gaza on Thursday, reportedly the only cancer treatment center in the enclave.
Israel justified its latest blow on Gaza health infrastructure, claiming that Hamas had converted the hospital it into "terror infrastructure" but failed to provide any evidence to support these allegations.
Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the destruction of the hospital, which Türkiye constructed but was operated by local authorities.
“The deliberate targeting of a hospital providing healthcare services to civilians in Gaza is part of Israel’s policy to render Gaza unlivable and force the Palestinian people into displacement,” the ministry said in a statement.

Israeli forces early on Tuesday resumed extensive airstrikes on Gaza, shattering a ceasefire that had lasted nearly two months and paused a war that has claimed over 49,600 Palestinian lives since 2023.
Over the past three days, the Israeli strikes have claimed the lives of more than 600 people, most of whom are women and children, according to Palestinian reports.
Israeli attacks also struck a UN site in central Gaza City, killing a foreign staff member and injuring five other foreign workers, leading UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to call for a full investigation.
