Eid al-Fitr prayer to be performed in 6,240 places nationwide: Ministry of Endowment

CAIRO – 21 March 2025: The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments has designated 6,240 prayer areas nationwide for the Eid al-Fitr (festive of the breakfast) prayer for the year 1446 AH. 

The three-day Eid al-Fitr will be start on the evening of March 30, according to the Egyptian National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics.

The Ministry confirmed that the regulations for Eid al-Fitr prayers will remain the same as last year. Eid prayers will also take place in all mosques that hold Friday prayers.

For public squares, Eid prayers will be organized based on the arrangements made by each directorate and governorate. This will involve full coordination between the directorate and the governorate to identify suitable areas for the prayers.

An operations room will be established within the Ministry to monitor preparations for the Eid al-Fitr prayers.

The Ministry emphasized that only the Endowments Directorates are responsible for preparing Eid prayers, whether in mosques or their surrounding squares. This falls within the framework of their legal and religious authority over mosques, as these are public authorities overseen by state institutions. No entity has the right to interfere with the state’s authority in this regard, either legally or religiously.
