CAIRO – 19 March 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty met on Wednesday with Tanzanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Dotto Biteko.
Minister Abdel Abdelatty highlighted the unique nature of Egyptian-Tanzanian relations and the growing development they have witnessed, particularly in recent years since President Samia Suluhu Hassan's visit to Egypt in November 2021, which witnessed the signing of several contractual frameworks.
Abdelatty stressed the importance the Egyptian leadership attaches to the completion of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant and Dam, praising the Egyptian consortium responsible for implementing the project for its accomplishments in an unprecedented timeframe ahead of the project's imminent completion.
The foreign minister praised the growing trade and investment between the two countries in recent years, highlighting the fact that he had accompanied a high-level delegation of businessmen from various sectors during the visit to explore opportunities to enhance trade and investment exchange between the two countries.
Abdelatty emphasized the Egyptian government's commitment to strengthening and increasing the presence of Egyptian companies in the Tanzanian market, in addition to boosting bilateral cooperation with Tanzania, particularly in the field of energy, whether traditional, new, or renewable.
