CAIRO – 18 March 2025: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held several phone calls on Tuesday with European officials and ministers to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip.

The minister of foreign affairs held talks with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas; Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide; and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain José Manuel Albares.

The discussions focused on the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and its repercussions for regional stability.

During the phone calls, Minister Abdelatty stressed that the Israeli aggression is re-igniting tension in the region and hindering the ongoing efforts aimed at calming the situation and restoring stability.

He stressed the need for the European Union to exert pressure on Israel to immediately halt its aggression against civilians in the Gaza Strip, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement.

He also emphasized the need for the parties to exercise restraint to allow mediators to complete their efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement in its three stages. It was agreed to continue contacts and joint coordination to de-escalate the situation in Gaza.
