CAIRO – 17 March 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited on Sunday the Police Academy, where he had Iftar with the academy students and their families.
Upon his arrival to the Academy, El-Sisi was received by Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik and Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of the Police Academy Hani Abul-Makarem.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the president had iftar with the new students and their families and reviewed the latest developments regarding Egypt's position on a number of regional and international issues, and their impact on Egypt's national security.
“I welcome all the families present with us today, and I extend my sincere greetings and appreciation to them for the efforts they have made with their children over the past years until they have reached the academy,” President El-Sisi said.
President Sisi stressed in his speech that the Egyptian state has embarked on a major development phase in all areas, not just in the Ministry of Interior. “Without fanfare, we began the development process in extreme calmness.”
He also noted that the development undertaken in the reform and rehabilitation centers is unique to the Egyptian state, and that the financial cost of such development was huge, “but we focused on the higher aim of changing the environment in which the inmates live… The state is responsible for the safety of the people, and these inmates will eventually be released and should no longer pose any danger.”
The president affirmed that a comprehensive plan has been set to reform the various directorates and departments of the Ministry of Interior across the country, highlighting that it is important to maintain objective judgement when dealing with the ministry responsible for the country's security.

El-Sisi stressed Egypt's commitment to reinforcing security, stability, and peace in a region suffering from turmoil and instability, underscoring the state's efforts to resolve crises through peaceful means to preserve the resources of the countries and their peoples.
The president expressed his appreciation for the strength and cohesion of the domestic front, emphasizing that all the state agencies are exerting every effort to provide a decent life for citizens.
President Sisi emphasized the importance of raising awareness of the regional threats and the need to intensify efforts to preserve Egyptian national security and confront destructive rumors and thoughts.
“In 2011, the security situation deteriorated and society suffered greatly when the work of policemen was distorted.
We should not judge this massive security agency based on a photo or news posted on social media that aims to destabilize the society,” President El-Sisi stated.

The president confirmed that the state is exerting every effort to develop and reform its institutions, citing, for example, the progress witnessed by the Ministry of Interior over the past years, including the transformation of prisons into reform and rehabilitation centers.
The president explained to the students the importance of hardwork and leveraging their capabilities as the future of the nation.
The President reiterated his appreciation to the students' families for raising and educating their children on the principles and values of patriotism.
Concluding the visit, President El-Sisi performed the Maghrib prayer with the students at the academy's mosque.
