Government to disburse LE100K for families of Ismailia train collision victims

CAIRO – 13 March 2025: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly directed on Thursday, Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi to disburse LE 100,000 for each death in the collision accident between a train and a minibus on the ‘Qantara East-Bir al-Abd’ line, between the Qantara East and Gilbana stations in Ismailia governorate, which resulted in a number of injuries and deaths.

Madbouly also directed Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, to provide full medical care to those injured in the collision.

Eight people were killed and 12 others injured after a train collided with a minibus in Ismailia Thursday.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said that 13 fully equipped ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar monitored the provision of emergency and medical services to the victims, the statement added.
