FM meets Senate Speaker, members of Foreign Relations Committees

CAIRO – 10 March 2025: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Senate Speaker Counselor Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek on Sunday, as part of his visit to Parliament to meet with members of the Foreign Relations Committees of the House of Representatives and Senate.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty praised the existing cooperation between Parliament and the various sectors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He stressed the ministry's keenness to participate in the sessions of the various committees of the House of Representatives and Senate to review the determinants of Egyptian foreign policy in various files and explain the efforts it is making at the consular level regarding Egyptian citizens abroad.

Minister Abdelatty also reviewed the constants of Egyptian foreign policy and the serious challenges it faces currently, addressing the Egyptian position on various regional and international issues, most notably the developments in the Palestinian cause, where he reviewed the outcomes of the recent Arab Summit and the strenuous efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mobilize support for the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

He also addressed the determinants of the Egyptian position on developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, the Ethiopian Dam and the Horn of Africa.

The official spokesman added that Minister Abdelatty also reviewed the efforts made by Egyptian missions abroad to support the development process and the national economy in Egypt by establishing a council for joint business, opening new markets for Egyptian exports, and encouraging direct foreign investment to Egypt.

He also highlighted the ambitious steps taken by the Egyptian state to strengthen Egyptian-African relations on the political, economic, commercial and investment levels.
