CAIRO – 2 March 2025: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi received Sunday EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica. The focus of the talks was illegal migration, and devising a comprehensive mechanism that tackles the root causes of the phenomenon, especially the lack of development.
President Sisi also presented the vision of Egypt on updates in the Gaza Strip, and the country's efforts to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, including the hostage-prisoner swap, and supply of humanitarian aid. That is in addition to endeavors to kickstart reconstruction without displacing Palestinians.
The Egyptian president equally stressed the importance of the EU's support to initiatives aimed at reinstating pacification and stability in the region, as well as to the two-state solution in order to guarantee permanent peace in the Middle East.
The two sides similarly exchanged views on chaos in Libya, Sudan, and Syria. On another level, the EU commissioner asserted keenness on bilateral relations, expressing desire to boost trade exchange and investments.
