CAIRO – 27 February 2025: The Ministry of Religious Endowments in Egypt is continuing its efforts to maintain and develop places of worship. In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry will inaugurate 162 new mosques on Friday, February 28, 2025. Among these, 111 have undergone complete reconstruction, while 51 have been renovated and upgraded.

 

Since July 1, 2024, the total number of newly opened mosques has reached 1,126. This includes 770 mosques rebuilt from the ground up and 356 that have been restored. The ministry has revealed that since July 2014, a total of 13,207 mosques have been reconstructed, refurbished, or provided with new furnishings at a total cost of approximately 22.1 billion Egyptian pounds.

 

The newly inaugurated mosques span multiple governorates, reflecting a commitment to nationwide mosque development. Below is a breakdown by region:

 

Fayoum Governorate: Several mosques have been reconstructed, including Al-Atiq Mosque in Zaid village, Al-Omda Mosque in Manshiyat Sakran, and Al-Ikhlas Mosque in Ezzbet Al-Kashef.

 

Beni Suef Governorate: The newly rebuilt mosques include Al-Tawba Mosque in Ezbet Ali Said and Al-Rayyan Mosque in Ezbet Al-Rayyan, among others. A newly built mosque, Al-Rahman Al-Rahim, has also been established in Al-Amal village.

 

Beheira Governorate: Key mosque renovations include Al-Rahma Mosque in Ezbet Issa and Ibrahim Al-Sharqawi Mosque in Al-Bustan Foundation. New mosques such as Al-Rawda Mosque in Aremoun have also been constructed.

 

Giza Governorate: Rebuilt mosques include Al-Tawba Mosque in Kafr Al-Waselin and Al-Husseini Mosque in Al-Nasiriya. Additionally, Al-Rahma Mosque in October Gardens is among the newly built places of worship.

 

Sharqia Governorate: Significant reconstructions include Abu Al-Abbas Mosque in Al-Manahreet and Al-Rahma Mosque in Al-Da’absa. Mosques undergoing maintenance include Al-Nasr Mosque in Zagazig.

 

Dakahlia Governorate: The province will see several mosque openings, including Al-Mohamady Mosque in Abu Dawood Al-Sebakh and Al-Awfiya Mosque in Mit Al-Nahal.

 

Minya Governorate: Reconstructed mosques include Awlad Al-Sheikh Al-Kasrawi Mosque in Al-Jundiyeh and Al-Rahman Al-Gharbi Mosque in Sefay.

 

Assiut Governorate: Renovated mosques include Awlad Abu Al-Nasr Mosque in Beni Mohamed and Al-Brahma Mosque in Kudiat Al-Islam.

 

Kafr El Sheikh Governorate: Mosques undergoing reconstruction include Al-Safa Mosque in Tira village and Al-Abayda Mosque in Salman Wahba.

 

Monufia Governorate: Rebuilt mosques include Ibad Al-Rahman Mosque in Kafr Al-Tabis and Al-Tawhid Mosque in Kafr Al-Taraina.

 

South Sinai Governorate: New constructions include Al-Aziz Al-Rahim Mosque in Nuweiba.

 

Qalyubia Governorate: Key developments include the renovation of Ali Fahmy Mosque in Banha and Al-Habib Al-Mustafa Mosque in Obour City.

 

Ismailia, Matrouh, Cairo, Luxor, Sohag, and Aswan Governorates: Mosques in these areas have also been upgraded, rebuilt, or newly constructed to serve worshippers better.

 

The Ministry of Religious Endowments remains dedicated to enhancing the infrastructure of mosques across Egypt. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader objective of fostering spiritual and intellectual development within religious institutions, ensuring that places of worship remain well-maintained and accessible to all.
