Egypt’s Sisi Congratulates Germany’s Merz on Winning Legislative Election

CAIRO – 24 February 2025: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi congratulated the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz on winning the Germany’s legislative elections to be the next German chancellor succeeding Olaf Scholz.

“I congratulate Mr. Friedrich Merz and CDU/CSU on the results of the federal elections in Germany. I wish him every success in fulfilling the aspirations of the German people. We look forward to working together to further strengthen the strategic relations between Egypt and Germany so as to serve the best interest of our nations, as well as to enhance joint coordination in promoting regional peace and stability at this critical time,” President Sisi said in a statement on Monday.
