FM discusses strengthening African ties at AU meetings

CAIRO – 12 February 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met with several African foreign ministers on the sidelines of the African Union Executive Council meetings in Addis Ababa.

The talks focused on bilateral ties, trade, investment, and regional challenges.

Abdelatty held talks with his counterparts from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Ghana, Gambia, Eswatini, and Burundi.

The meetings explored strengthening strategic partnerships, boosting sustainable development through increasing trade exchange and investment opportunities, highlighting Egypt’s initiatives in infrastructure, health, and education.

The top diplomat also highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in post-conflict reconstruction and peace efforts in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership in these areas.

Additionally, Abdelatty stressed the need for unified African positions at global forums and greater collaboration to address shared challenges.
