CAIRO – 9 February 2025: The General Traffic Department has declared a state of emergency to monitor weather conditions around the clock and prevent potential accidents.

Operation rooms are receiving reports related to adverse weather and closely tracking traffic movement across key roads and intersections. 

Traffic services have been deployed along major routes to monitor vehicle flow, while surveillance cameras help detect traffic congestion. 

Additionally, cranes are stationed along the roads to clear any obstacles, whether caused by accidents or vehicle malfunctions.

The General Traffic Department has also stationed relief vehicles throughout various road sections to assist drivers whose cars break down or are involved in accidents. Drivers can contact the department at 01221110000 for assistance.

The General Authority of Meteorology has provided details on the weather conditions for today, Sunday, February 9, 2025, amid the ongoing state of instability affecting the country.

During the daytime, cool weather will prevail in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and the North Coast. Meanwhile, moderate weather will be experienced in North Upper Egypt. However, warm weather is expected in South Sinai and South Upper Egypt. As for the nighttime and early morning, very cold weather is expected across most regions.

Additionally, light to moderate rain is anticipated on the North Coast and in North Lower Egypt. Also, there is a slight chance of light rain in the evening in parts of Greater Cairo, South Lower Egypt, and the Suez Canal cities.

The Red Sea will experience moderate to turbulent conditions, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters, while the Mediterranean Sea will be moderate to turbulent, with wave heights between 1.5 and 2.5 meters.
