CAIRO – 4 February 2025: Assistant to Foreign Minister for European Affairs Wael Hamed received Monday a delegation from the International Crisis Group (ICG), holding a meeting attended by diplomats at the sectors of Arab affairs and African affairs, and the departments of Sudan, South Sudan, Palestine and Nile Water.

The delegation listened to Egypt's vision on regional crises, and efforts deployed to attain solutions. The topics addressed included Gaza ceasefire, and conflicts in Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Red Sea, and the Horn of Africa. That is in addition to disputes over the Nile River, composing a threat to Egypt's water security.

The Egyptian side also shed light on the country's role on combating illegal migration, as no illegal migrants have departed from its shores towards Europe since 2016. It also hosts almost 11 million migrants who fled hostile areas.
