CAIRO – 29 January 2025: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi stated Wednesday that the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza would be injustice that Egypt could not be part of, expressing confidence that cooperation with the United States is possible to establish peace in the Middle East.
The president made the statements during a joint press conference with his Kenyan counterpart who is holding a visit to Cairo for consultations on bilateral ties and regional issues.
President Sisi added that the displacement would also affect the Egyptian national security, revealing that Egypt would work with U.S. President Donald Trump to accomplish the two-state solution.
A high-profile Egyptian source negated Tuesday that a phone call had taken place earlier this week between U.S. President Donald Trump and President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, noting that phone calls between the chief of state and counterparts are always announced.
The source urged exercising accuracy when circulating news about that high-level of contacts amid the intricate conditions the Middle East is going through, stressing that relations between Sisi and Trump are excellent.
The news came out after the U.S. president's statements to press Sunday on intentions to relocate Gazans to Jordan and Egypt, given that the Strip has become unlivable, declaring that he had made a phone call to King Abdullah II of Jordan and that he would make a similar one to President Sisi. On the other hand, the two countries released statements rejecting plans of the sort.
