CAIRO- 26 July, 2017: Khalid Saeed al-Bounein was a Doha-based fundraiser for terrorist militants in Syria, leading fundraising initiatives with UN and US sanctioned al-Qaida facilitators Saad bin Saad al-Kabi and Abd al-Latif bin Abdullah al-Kuwari. Khalid al-Bounein served as a point of contact for the fundraising campaign in Qatar between 2012 and 2014.

In 2016, Khalid Saeed al-Bounein participated in a Qatar Charity delegation to Iraq that included Qatar Charity official and designated supporter of terrorist militants in Syria, Mohammed Jassim al-Sulaiti, who was designated in the list issued by the four countries calling for combating terrorism.

The newly designated terrorist used to work as a real estate investor in the eastern part of the rich-gas emirate; he –as well- worked for the defunct Madid Ahl al-Sham, a charity believed to fund al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria al-Nusra Front.

Al-Bounein was detained in 2004 by Qatari authorities over associating with extremist elements, released after a short while with other detainees after the Arab Commission for Human Rights urged the Qatar to release those who were imprisoned without a trial.

Al-Bounein followed several controversial accounts on Twitter, such as Ahrar al-Sham’s- the terrorist group active in Syria- and others linked to extremist Salafist groups, the Qatari national also used his account to promote Ultra conservative quotes and opinions.
