CAIRO – 24 January 2025: Hamas announced on Friday names of 4 female captive soldiers scheduled to be released, Saturday as part of Gaza deal.
The captives’ names as announced are: Karina Arif, Daniel Gilboa, Naema Levy, and Liri Elbag.
For its part, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office confirmed that it had received the list of female soldiers that Hamas announced would be released, explaining that ‘it will comment on it later’.
The Prisoners' institutions said they are awaiting the list of Palestinian prisoners expected to be released also Saturday, which will include 200 prisoners.
On Wednesday, January 15, an agreement has been approved to halt war in Gaza with Egyptian, American, and Qatari mediation, after nearly 15 months of suffering and violence that led to the killing of more than 46,707 Palestinian people.
Qatari Prime minister Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced in a press conference that the joint efforts between Egypt, Qatar and the United States of America contributed to the success of the discussions and negotiations.
The deal came into force on Sunday January 19, as three Israeli female prisoners were released, and other 90 Palestinian prisoners followed them after nearly 7 hours of waiting.
The spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida said that the movement made every effort to preserve the lives of prisoners held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
The Red Cross said on Monday that release of the first batch of prisoners and detainees exchange deal was a complex process and required strict security measures to reduce risks to everyone.
“Our teams are ready to continue implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza until more prisoners and detainees are released and families are reunited,” Red Cross added.
