Egypt pays great attention to strengthening ties with Uzbekistan, FM Abdelatty

CAIRO – 23 January 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted on Thursday, that Egypt is paying great attention to strengthening ties with Uzbekistan at both the political and economic levels.

During a phone call with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyar Saidov, Abdelatty stressed the importance of encouraging collaboration among national economic institutions in the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of building on the outcomes of the ‘Seventh Session of the Egyptian-Uzbek Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation’, chaired by the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, which was held in December 2024 in Tashkent, especially with regard to enhancing investments and mutual trade exchange, and supporting cooperation between private sector institutions in the two countries by establishing a businessmen council that contributes to exploring new horizons for areas of joint cooperation.

Minister Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's appreciation for Uzbekistan's support and solidarity with the Palestinian people and its standing by them, including its support for Palestine's right to establish its independent state in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
