CAIRO – 23 January 2025: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty concluded his visit to Belgrade with a lecture on the evening of Wednesday, January 22.

The lecture, titled "Egypt and Serbia in a Changing World," was attended by a large audience, including Serbian ministers, senior officials, professors, and students from the University of Belgrade, as well as ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Serbia. Also present were members of the Egyptian and Arab communities in Belgrade.

During his lecture, Minister Abdelatty highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Serbia, which have flourished over the years. He also shared Egypt’s perspective on various regional and international challenges.

In his visit to Belgrade, Adelatty met with Marko Čadež, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, where he discussed various aspects of economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between the two countries, praising the development of bilateral relations.

The minister expressed Egypt's aspiration to elevate cooperation to achieve the hopes and interests of both peoples and contribute to the developmental goals of both countries.

The Egyptian minister also met with Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Đurić, in Belgrade. Minister Abdelatty praised the deep historical ties between the two countries, especially their role in founding the Non-Aligned Movement, noting that his current visit to Serbia aims to build on the fruitful outcomes of the historic visits by the President of the Republic to Belgrade in July 2022 and the Serbian President's visit to Cairo in July 2024, which saw the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.

Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's hope that the agreement will contribute to increasing trade exchange between the two nations, and affirmed the Egyptian side's anticipation of holding the 19th session of the committee during the second half of 2025 in Cairo, given the importance of these frameworks in advancing cooperation in the political, economic, commercial, agricultural, and tourism fields; and consolidating efforts to counter terrorism.

The meeting also witnessed an exchange of views on several regional and international issues of common interest, chiefly the ongoing developments in Gaza.

The Serbian minister showed high appreciation of Egypt's pivotal role in reaching a ceasefire in Gaza, expressing his country's readiness to coordinate with Egypt in providing aid to the Palestinian people. He pointed out that both Egypt and Serbia pursue policies based on respect for international law, the United Nations Charter, and the sovereignty of states.

The discussions also touched on the Syrian issue and the necessity for the international community to work together to establish stability throughout the countr. They also addressed the latest developments in Libya, Sudan, Lebanon, and the Western Balkans.
