Food Safety discusses joint cooperation with the French Embassy in several fields

CAIRO - 22 January 2025: Dr. Tarek El-Hobi, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, received Nicolas Beck, Financial Advisor and Deputy Head of the Economic Mission at the Embassy of the French Republic in Cairo, in the presence of a number of officials from the Authority and the French Embassy, ​​where the meeting included discussing ways of joint cooperation between the two sides.
 
Dr. Tarek El-Hobi reviewed the Authority's supervisory role to ensure the arrival of healthy and safe food by examining food shipments exported at various ports, as well as methods of sampling, within the framework of the Authority's adoption of a risk analysis approach, and taking the necessary measures in the event of any deviations, which enhances consumer confidence in the Egyptian product and increases its competitiveness in global markets.
 
El-Hobi also referred to the new mechanism implemented by the Authority after the National Food Safety Authority assumed responsibility for issuing certificates of validity for exported food products, as well as procedures for release under reservation, transportation and storage of incoming food shipments since the beginning of the new year 2025.
 
The meeting also discussed prospects for cooperation between Egypt and France in the areas of supporting the effectiveness of regulatory and supervisory operations related to food safety systems, as well as exchanging information and expertise, especially in the field of scientific research related to food safety, supporting training programs to develop the Authority's human cadres and enhancing the development of cooperation between the competent food authorities in both countries.
 
Al-Hobi stressed the keenness of the National Food Safety Authority to coordinate and communicate continuously with the French side to facilitate procedures and overcome all obstacles to enhance trade exchange and open the markets of the two countries to more products, especially food and agricultural products.
 
For his part, Mr. Nicolas Beck, Financial Advisor and Deputy Head of the Economic Mission at the French Embassy, ​​praised the Authority's supervisory role and its tangible role in enhancing efforts and overcoming any obstacles to open various global markets to access Egyptian food exports.
