CAIRO – 17 January 2025: The Houthi fighters in Yemen announced on Friday executing strikes targeting US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and key locations in Israel.

In a public square in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, standing among supporters, Houthis’ spokesman Yahya Saree confirmed targeting vital Israeli assets in Eilat city in southern Israel with four cruise missiles.

Saree stressed that the operation “successfully achieved its objectives.”

Moreover, he stated that they targeted Israeli positions in Jaffa with three drones and a “vital” Israeli asset in the coastal Ashkelon city using a drone.

He asserted that both operations were successful.

A fourth operation, Saree said, targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern Red Sea with several drones, “achieving its goals successfully.”

Saree added that this targeting of the carrier marks the seventh such operation since its arrival in the Red Sea.

Since October 2023, the Houthi group has been launching attacks with drones and ballistic missiles on Israel, in addition to operations in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait against ships linked to Israel.

The Houthis assert that these attacks constitute acts of solidarity with the Palestinian people and will continue until Israel ceases its aggression in Gaza.

A US-led military coalition has been active in the Red Sea since late 2023 to counter these attacks, while frequently striking targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. However, the Houthi attacks have continued.
