CAIRO- 27 January 2025: Cairo's technical meetings have begun working on mechanisms to implement a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel, with the participation of teams from Egypt, Qatar, the U.S., and Israel, Al Qahera News reported on Friday.

An agreement has been approved to halt war in Gaza after nearly 15 months of suffering and violence that led to the killing of more than 46,707 Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation forces. The agreement was reached after tireless efforts exerted by the Egyptian, American, and Qatari mediation.

As per the agreement that was announced by Qatari Prime minister Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced in a press conference on Wednesday, Egypt, Qatar, US to continue meetings in Cairo to monitor ceasefire implementation mechanism in Gaza. He added that the deal will come into force on Sunday January 19.

However, the Israeli Channel 12 reported that the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement may be delayed until Monday instead of Sunday, due to a holdup in the signing process.

It has been reported that a delegation from the Israeli army and the Israel Security Agency/Shin Bet (Shabak) has arrived in Cairo, Friday, to coordinate with the Egyptian side regarding arrangements for implementing the Gaza Ceasefire agreement, according to al Qahera news channel.
