Ambassador Ahmed Eid, Egypt’ Ambassador to Lomé, participated in the opening of the Coptic Orthodox Church, marking it as the first Egyptian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Togo, on January 12.

CAIRO – 14 January 2025: Ambassador Ahmed Eid, Egypt’ Ambassador to Lomé, participated in the opening of the Coptic Orthodox Church, marking it as the first Egyptian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Togo, on January 12.

 

The event was attended by His Grace Bishop Mark, Bishop of Paris and Northern France, who represented His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, as well as Father Daoud Lamei, Priest of St. Mark's Church in Heliopolis, Father Youssef Stephanos, Father Anton Basada (Supervisor of the Church in Lomé), a group of priests, embassy colleagues, and representatives from the Presidency of the Republic of Togo. 

 

Additionally, the Ministers of Health, Religions, and Culture from the Togolese government, members of the Arab communities in Togo, and a representative of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa for the Greek Orthodox in Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso were present.
