CAIRO - 4 January 2025: The Syrian Embassy in Cairo announced Saturday morning granting free flight tickets for Syrian nationals to return to Syria.

The embassy also said it is providing free authentication of documents belonging to Syrian citizens, in addition to extending the validity of passports for free for 6 more months for one time.

This comes within the framework of implementing the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Anas Al-Shaibani.

The Syrian Embassy noted that the instructions for exemption from fees are limited to free authentication of documents, and do not include other transactions such as registering civil status events, agencies and commercial invoices, as fees due for these transactions continue to be collected until new instructions are issued regarding them.

The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Interim Government had directed the Department of Consulates and Expatriates to provide the best consular services to expatriates, listen to their complaints and authenticate all their documents for free until new instructions are issued, adding: We are currently studying extending the validity period of passports, reducing fees and other measures that contribute to alleviating the burden on our honorable people outside Syria.
