CAIRO – 26 December 2024: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to review the tourism opportunities in the area surrounding the Giza Plateau
The meeting was attended by several key officials including Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy; Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny; Governor of Giza Adel El-Najjar; Deputy Governor of Giza Hend Abdel-Halim, and others.
Mabdouly invited a number of tourism investors to discuss the tourism opportunities in this area, with the aim of benefiting from their perspectives and ideas.
During the meeting, Head of the National Center for Planning Land Uses Major General Nasser Fawzy reviewed several vacant land plots in prime locations overlooking the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum that could be utilized for tourism. Commenting on this matter, the prime minister mentioned that invitations had been extended to several international consultancy offices to develop a master plan for the entire area.
“Our goal is to listen to your ideas and visions on how to best utilize these tourist areas,” Madbouly said.
Governor of Giza Adel El-Najjar highlighted that several land plots are currently ready for investment in the governorate's investment zone, some of which are suitable for tourism investment, and are very close to the Pyramids and the Grand Museum, which will be presented to tourism investors.
Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Chambers Federation Hossam El-Shaer pointed out that with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, there will be a significant increase in tourist turnout. He emphasized the need to increase the number of hotel rooms in this area, adding that they have a comprehensive vision for the area as part of the tourism sector.
El-Shaer presented his vision for improving the Nazlet El-Samman area and maximizing its benefits to attract more tourists, noting that the local residents are ready to participate in these efforts, as they will be the primary beneficiaries.
In this regard, the governor of Giza mentioned that a meeting had been held with the major families in the area, in the presence of the Head of the Urban Planning Authority, and they had agreed to improve the general appearance of the area's buildings with the participation of the local residents.
Meanwhile, Member of the Specialized Council for Economic Development Ahmed El-Waseef proposed suggestions for tourism and recreational activities needed in the area, considering the expected increase in tourist arrivals.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Al-Daw" for Real Estate and Hotel Development Basel Sami Saad stated that this area could bring about a qualitative leap for tourism in Egypt in general, as the presence of the Pyramids, the museum, and the Sphinx Airport indicates that this area, with the planned tourism projects, will attract large numbers of tourists.
Saad suggested that the area be managed in a different way, like private investment zones, emphasizing that a master plan for the area and international promotion of its projects would make it one of the best tourist areas in the world and would attract foreign investments.
