CAIRO – 5 December 2024: Hamas delegation announced on Thursday concluding its meetings with the Fatah movement in Cairo about forming a committee to administer the Gaza Strip.
The agreed committee, according to Hamas statement considered to be a step in the path to achieve national unity and end the division.
The movement affirmed in the statement its approval of the Egyptian proposal regarding forming a community support committee through comprehensive national mechanisms.
Hamas said in the statement that the delegation held a meeting with the leadership of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, where they discussed the overall political and field developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The delegation also held meetings with a number of Palestinian national and dignitaries present in Cairo, where they were informed of the meetings that took place with the Fatah movement and the movement's position towards the Egyptian proposal within the national framework.

Abdel Aaty strongly condemned the illegal legislation banning UNRWA‘s work in the Palestinian Territories. He emphasized that there is no substitute to UNRWA and that it cannot be dispensed with.
The top diplomat highlighted that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unprecedented due to the ongoing, brutal Israeli aggression that is exacerbated by decades of occupation. Meanwhile, the inability of international organizations and legal system to take deterring steps to stop the Palestinian bloodshed.
The minister underscored that more than 2,000 UNRWA buildings have been destroyed, including 65 of its schools. Further, 85% of the strip area has been evacuated by Israeli military orders, displacing 2 million people and killing than 43,000, mostly women and children.
The conference was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohamed, and delegations of 103 countries, organizations, and financial institutions.
The convention is aimed at garnering clear commitments on providing aid to Gaza, ensuring international backing to the sustainability of aid supply to the Strip, mobilizing immediate aid, and planning an early recovery of the enclave.
