CAIRO – 23 July 2017: Shocking photos for four young girls tortured inside an orphanage in Luxor governorate went viral on social media, and ordered to be investigated, according to Governor Mohamed Badr's statement to Masrawy, Sunday.

“I was not in town when the incident took place, however when I came back, the four poor girls came to me and started to tell me what happened, I didn’t know what to do in the beginning, but I decided to call a lawyer and ask for his advice,” Hanna Abbas, one of the Sunshine orphanage older girls said in statements to Egypt Today.

The lawyer advised Abbas to issue a formal complaint at the police station as soon as she can, so the girls get the chance to be examined by the forensics before the disappearance of the torture marks on their bodies.

Amal (5 years old), Habiba (6 years old), Amira (7 years old) and Mariam (8 years old) claimed that their supervisor, Madiha, tortured them using plastic bathroom cleaning tools for making noise during playing.

In statements to Masrawy Sunday, Luxor Governor Mohamed Badr said that he ordered a quick investigation in the incident, as all of the orphanage supervisors and residents were questioned.

This incident; however considered to be one of a long list similar torture cases inside the orphanages. On March, similar photos for tortured children went viral on social media and revealed the brutal way they have been treated inside Ishraqa Orphanage, located in 6 October City.

The orphanage Psychologist, Khaled Mahmoud told Al Masry Al Youm in statements March 11, that the children were suffering from different mental illnesses due to abusing.
Also in September 2014, Giza misdemeanor court sentenced an Orphanage manager to three years in Jail for assaulting children.
