CAIRO – 22 May 2024: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has emphasized the strength of Egypt-Tanzania relations, noting that Egypt considers Tanzania one of its most important strategic partners in Africa.

He also pointed out to historical relations bringing together the two Nile Basin countries.

Madbouly made the remarks as he received on Wednesday Tulia Ackson, Speaker of the Parliament of Tanzania and Speaker of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The prime minister talked about exchanged visits between the political leaderships of both countries in recent years.

Madbouly also lauded the volume of Egyptian investments in Tanzania in various fields, noting that Egypt is among countries with the biggest investments in the East African nation.

However, more efforts have to be made to boost trade between both countries as they do not live up to the level of distinguished political relations, he said.

He also pointed out to the construction of the Julius Nyerere Dam in Tanzania through a joint venture of two Egyptian companies: the Arab Contractors and El-Sewedy Electric.

Meanwhile, the Tanzanian parliament speaker praised the wonderful, bold achievement made by the Egyptian state as regards establishing the New Administrative Capital in record time.

The New Administrative Capital reflects the ability of African nations to implement great projects, she added.

Ackson also highlighted the possibility of expanding cooperation between Egypt and Tanzania in a number of important fields such as agriculture and healthcare.
