CAIRO – 20 May 2024: Egypt mourned, with great sadness and grief, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their companions, who passed away on Sunday, May 19, following a painful accident.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi extended on Monday, his sincere condolences and sympathy to the brotherly Iranian people. Sisi also prays to God Almighty that the deceased Iranian President and the departed may rest in God’s mercy, and grant their families patience and solace.

 President Sisi expressed the solidarity of Egypt with the Iranian leadership and people.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian have died in a helicopter crash in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan, Iranian Press TV confirmed, Monday.

The Iranian President's plane was completely burned in the crash and no sign of life was found in the helicopter wreckage, al Qahera news channel reported

Head of the Iranian Red Crescent confirmed that the bodies of all those on board with the late President Raisi are being transported to the city of Tabriz.
