CAIRO -  9 May 2024: Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Health, stated that the FY24/25 budget witnessed the implementation of program and performance budgeting in about 60% of the ministry's sectors. He added that there are strong efforts to include the remaining sectors in the program and performance budget next year.

Abdel Ghaffar emphasized Egypt's pivotal role in dealing with events, citing the reception of around 5,500 injured Palestinians in Egyptian hospitals. He also highlighted that 63 million Egyptian citizens are insured by the Health Insurance Authority, which is tasked with developing services in addition to providing them.

The Minister elaborated that the authority has the capacity to do more within the framework of its role in providing comprehensive health insurance services. He added that citizens who are not insured are treated at the state's expense, with each step of these steps costing the state significant amounts of money.

Abdel Ghaffar revealed that the cost of treatment at the state's expense amounts to LE14 billion annually, and the allocated amount is exceeded due to the demand for decisions from citizens and presidential initiatives. He pointed out that there are about 14 initiatives, the most prominent of which are the 100 Million Health project and the elimination of Hepatitis C virus.

The Minister emphasized that Egypt's national projects do not stop at the governorate level.
