CAIRO – 25 April 2024: On the 42nd anniversary of Sinai's liberation, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that the liberation of Sinai was not merely about reclaiming territory, but rather a testament to the resilience and capability of our people to achieve the impossible and safeguard their land at any cost.

“We commemorate the anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, a cherished territory in the sacred land of Egypt. This day symbolizes the unwavering strength of the Egyptian will and determination to reclaim every inch of our land,” the president said on his official Facebook page.

“Today, we remember the sacrifices of our righteous martyrs and the heroism of our courageous soldiers who restored the dignity and sovereignty of Egypt over the beloved land of Sinai,” he added.

“Let us make this anniversary an opportunity to renew our commitment to building our nation, bolstering our unity, and advancing our status among nations,” he continued.

President El-Sisi also highlighted in his speech the historical significance of Sinai, which makes it a target of aggression.

Referring to recent regional developments, including Israel's aggression on Gaza, President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering stance against the displacement of Palestinians to Sinai or any other location. He reiterated Egypt's commitment to the Palestinian cause and its efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state.

On April 25 of every year, Egypt celebrates Sinai Liberation Day, when the last Israeli soldier was expelled, and the Egyptian flag was raised on the turquoise land [Sinai] on April 25, 1982.
